Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene
• Assist with transfers and mobilization using body mechanics and mechanical aides like walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts
• Perform nursing procedures such as administering suppositories, enemas, collecting specimens, and applying non-sterile dressings
• Monitor and record resident observations, including appetite, mobility, temperature, and behavior, reporting changes to the Registered Nurse or LPN
• Assist residents with meals by serving trays, feeding, and monitoring nutritional intake
• Maintain a clean environment by changing beds and sanitizing resident equipment
• Complete daily POC assessments and perform related clerical duties such as answering phones and ordering supplies

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 10 and graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistance program
• Registration and good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
• Current Food Safe certificate
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate
• Clear Criminal Record check
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
