Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and skin care
• Assist with resident transfers and mobilization using proper body mechanics and mechanical aids like walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts
• Perform nursing procedures such as administering non-sterile dressings, collecting specimens, and recording intake and output
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition, including behavior, skin integrity, appetite, and physical well-being to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
• Assist residents with meals by serving trays, feeding, and monitoring nutritional intake
• Maintain a clean environment by changing beds and sanitizing resident equipment
• Complete daily Point of Care (POC) assessments and perform related clerical duties such as answering phones and ordering supplies

Requirements

• Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistance program
• Current registration and good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
• Valid Food Safe certificate
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Clear Criminal Record check
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
