About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential care tasks and assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding.
  • Monitor and document resident health status, including vital signs, measurements, and weights, reporting changes to the LPN.
  • Implement resident care plans by providing medical assistance, managing personal belongings, and ensuring a clean, home-like environment.
  • Deliver prepackaged medications to residents in accordance with Medication Assistance policies.
  • Utilize mechanical lifts and proper body mechanics to perform safe transfers and lifts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Resident Health Records and report any unusual incidents or medication errors.
  • Engage in social interaction with residents and provide emotional support to families and caregivers.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Certified Health Care/Personal Care/Nursing Care Aide program recognized by Alberta Health Services.
  • Current registration with the Alberta HCA Registry.
  • Current Standard First Aid with Level C CPR & AED.
  • Current Medication Administration Certification.
  • Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a supportive living setting.
  • Recent experience working with mental health clients.
