Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Perform essential care tasks including dressing, toileting, bathing, feeding, and transferring residents
• Assist with meal and snack preparation, service, and maintaining clean dining environments
• Monitor and document vital signs, measurements, and changes in resident health status
• Deliver prepackaged medications as outlined in the Medication Assistance policy
• Support resident social engagement and provide emotional support to residents and families
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and home-like environment, including laundry and room tidying
• Utilize mechanical lifts and proper body mechanics to ensure safe resident transfers
• Document all care and incidents accurately in Resident Health Records

Requirements

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a Certified Health Care/Personal Care/Nursing Care Aide program
• Medication Assistance Certification
• Current registration with the Alberta HCA Registry
• Standard First Aid with Level C CPR & AED
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
• Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector Check

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a supportive living setting
• Recent experience working with mental health clients
