Health Care Aide

Responsibilities

• Perform essential care tasks and assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, toileting, bathing, and feeding
• Monitor and document vital signs, measurements, and weights, reporting any significant changes to the LPN
• Assist with meal preparation, service, and maintaining a clean dining environment
• Support resident mobility using proper body mechanics, mechanical lifts, and transfer belts
• Deliver prepackaged medications as outlined in the Medication Assistance policy
• Maintain accurate documentation in Resident Health Records and report unusual incidents
• Provide social engagement and emotional support to residents and their families
• Assist in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and home-like environment for all residents

Requirements

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a Certified Health Care/Personal Care/Nursing Care Aide program
• Current registration with the Alberta HCA Registry
• Standard First Aid with Level C CPR & AED
• Medication Administration Certification
• Criminal Police Investigation Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a supportive living setting
• Recent experience working with mental health clients
