Health and Safety Support Officer

Responsibilities

• Deliver health and safety training programmes, specifically Patient Moving and Handling and Inanimate Load Handling
• Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of training programmes
• Assist in the assessment and management of patient moving and handling risks
• Provide advice and guidance on ergonomic principles and display screen equipment (DSE) assessments
• Support health and safety incident reviews, workplace assessments, audits, and investigations
• Assist in the evaluation, maintenance, and monitoring of moving and handling equipment
• Maintain accurate training, audit, and activity records
• Support the delivery of health promotion campaigns and wellbeing initiatives
• Act as a positive role model for compliance with health and safety legislation and Trust policies

Requirements

• GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths
• Accredited training program or equivalent experience
• NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical setting requiring health and safety knowledge
• Ability to deliver training programmes to diverse audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Risk Management systems
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act

Preferred Qualifications

• NVQ qualification in care
• Previous experience as a HCSW or physiotherapy technician
• Experience with Patient Moving & Handling care plans
• Understanding of Manual Handling Operations Regulations and ergonomic principles
