Health and Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Implement and sustain facility health and safety management programs to ensure regulatory compliance and injury prevention
• Develop and manage facility safety strategies, including job hazard assessments, plant inspections, and accident investigations
• Manage workers' compensation claims and employee illness/injury records in coordination with HR
• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and ensure compliance with Cal OSHA regulations and company guidelines
• Lead the Hazard Communication program and manage the SDS database
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including NH3 system inspections and training
• Supervise environmental compliance programs and act as a liaison with regulatory agencies
• Chair the Safety Committee and facilitate health and safety training for new and existing employees
• Manage ergonomics programs, medical surveillance, and wellness initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (environmental or chemical), safety management, industrial hygiene, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, preferably in food manufacturing
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision and possess strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30-hour Train the Trainer certification
• RETA – Level 1 certification
• HAZWOPER Certification
• Certified CPR/First Aid Instructor
