Health and Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Ensure the security and efficient operation of the school site, buildings, and grounds in accordance with Health & Safety guidance
• Manage repairs and maintenance, including inspecting required works and appointing external service providers
• Monitor external contract performance to ensure high standards of service and value for money
• Devise and deliver business strategies, including the development of policies, systems, and safeguarding processes
• Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and GEMS Corporate Office guidelines
• Direct and develop the performance of administration and support service teams
• Manage risk, contractors, emergency management, and audits in line with OSHAD elements
• Remain contactable outside normal school hours to support Critical Incident Response Protocols

Requirements

• Minimum of a BA or equivalent advanced diploma
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior-level position within a service-oriented industry
• Fluent English communication skills (written and oral)
• Valid DBS or equivalent police check
• Strong organizational, supervisory, and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to handle pressure and influence stakeholders with cultural sensitivity
