About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the on-site implementation of the EHS Management System (EHSMS) for an advanced exploration program.
- Serve as the senior EHS presence on-site, providing real-time guidance and coaching to a workforce of 30–50 personnel.
- Translate EHSMS framework elements into practical, site-level execution and operational controls.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, field engagement, and mentoring.
- Oversee hazard identification, risk assessment, and control verification processes.
- Ensure compliance with Yukon regulatory requirements, permits, and contractual obligations.
- Manage environmental risks, including spill prevention, water stewardship, and wildlife interactions.
- Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and the tracking of corrective actions.
- Provide EHS oversight for all contractors and subcontractors performing work at the site.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive EHS experience in mining, exploration, construction, or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of Canadian and Yukon EHS regulatory frameworks.
- Practical experience with risk assessment, hazard identification, and critical control management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead EHS programs in remote or project development environments.
- Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in remote camp operations and working in rotational roles.
- Experience implementing or operating within ISO-aligned management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
