Head of Year

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the pastoral needs of a specific year group to support student educational potential
• Develop and implement effective strategies for student behaviour management and conflict resolution
• Monitor and improve student attendance, punctuality, and academic progress
• Manage student welfare meetings and develop robust student welfare strategies
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with parents and external agencies
• Coordinate enrichment activities and assemblies to motivate and reward students
• Implement and monitor school policies regarding uniform and student conduct
• Manage year group information systems and maintain accurate student records and reports

Requirements

• A good standard of education
• Proven experience working with students in the 11-16 age range
• Evidence of pastoral-related training
• Evidence of recent relevant ICT training
• Current First Aid certification (or willingness to undergo training)
• Experience using ICT to monitor attendance, punctuality, and administration

Preferred Qualifications

• Current mini-bus licence or willingness to undergo training to obtain one
• Experience developing student autonomy through peer mentoring
• Experience using extra-curricular activities to enhance student motivation and attainment
