Head of Waste Management

Responsibilities

• Implement and further develop the waste management concept in compliance with the five-stage waste hierarchy
• Act as the operational officer for waste management
• Monitor the entire waste stream from creation (e.g., OR, wards, laboratory) to final recovery
• Provide technical instruction to clinical staff regarding correct separation and handling of hazardous waste
• Prepare the annual waste report for management and communicate with authorities

Requirements

• Completed degree in Environmental Technology, Waste Management, Health Management, or comparable training with long-term leadership experience
• Proven expertise according to the Waste Officer Ordinance (AbfBeauftrV)
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare-specific waste types (LAGA) and relevant laws (KrWG, AbfBeauftrV, IfSG, Biostoffverordnung, ADR)
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical clinical processes
