Head of Underwriting & Portfolio Management

Responsibilities

• Lead the underwriting function for Accident & Health business, assessing risk for new and renewal business to drive growth and profitability.
• Monitor revenue and profitability performance across lines of business, products, and channels, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Manage portfolio analysis to identify poor-performing accounts and oversee the execution of strategic action plans.
• Oversee the full product development lifecycle, from ideation and concept to launch, including policy documentation and marketing materials.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, IT, and distribution channels to ensure successful product rollouts and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct market research on competitor products and industry trends to provide strategic recommendations.
• Manage the training and professional development of the underwriting team.

Requirements

• 8-10 years of professional experience in general insurance.
• Proven experience in project management, specifically involving the creation and launch of new insurance products.
• Degree in any discipline; a degree in Actuarial Science is preferred.
• Professional insurance qualifications such as AMII, ACII, or an equivalent designation.
