Head of Technology & Operations

Responsibilities

• Manage short- and long-term technology strategy and capital planning
• Oversee day-to-day operations including equipment integration, maintenance, and transmission for live programming
• Lead engineering, IT, and production teams in a 24/7/365 environment
• Ensure compliance with FCC rules, OSHA standards, and critical IT security policies
• Manage business continuity, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity contingency plans
• Maintain financial responsibility for the engineering department, including budgeting and expense approvals
• Manage vendor contracts for technology, building maintenance, and security
• Monitor and scrutinize daily on-air technical quality and lead workflow improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3-5 years of experience in broadcast operations or technology management
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including ENPS, RF transmission, and broadcast switchers
• Strong project management experience and ability to lead station-wide initiatives
• Understanding of IT processes, including security, workflow, and management
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate news gathering vehicles
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under pressure
