About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic whole-school leadership to drive excellence in teaching, learning, and digital innovation for pupils aged 2–13.
  • Shape and oversee digital strategy, ensuring the purposeful use of educational technology to enhance classroom practice.
  • Lead curriculum innovation and ensure academic provision is ambitious, inclusive, research-informed, and future-facing.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Department to embed the school's distinctive educational identity and Brighton College initiatives.
  • Oversee strategic areas including charity, partnerships, outreach, sustainability, inclusion, and character education.
  • Lead professional development initiatives to support staff growth and improve teaching outcomes.
  • Use analytical skills to interpret assessment data and evaluate the impact of educational initiatives.

Requirements

  • A degree and recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience as a Senior Leader or Head of Department with a track record of improving learning outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of educational research, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Expertise in digital learning and the integration of educational technology.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience evaluating the impact of academic programs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within an independent or preparatory school setting.
  • Experience working within an Apple School or a 1:1 device environment.
  • Experience leading whole-school strategic initiatives or working in rapidly growing school environments.
  • Knowledge of teaching and curriculum progression across the full 2–13 age range.
  • Experience leading or working within SEND and/or EAL departments.
