About the role

About the Company

In partnership with Sony and SBI, we are building the infrastructure to bring the world's assets on-chain through Strium, a next-generation DeFi L1, and Startale App, a consumer super-app. We are a distributed, English-operating team building to a world-class standard.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering hiring end-to-end, from direct sourcing to closing, as the first dedicated talent hire.
  • Execute critical hires for product engineering (frontend/backend) and financial-infrastructure engineering.
  • Build a repeatable hiring engine including processes, scorecards, and playbooks from scratch.
  • Operate and sharpen in-house screening AI tools.
  • Design and implement a structured, intentional evaluation system with engineering managers.
  • Manage adjacent hiring for product, business, and PM roles as the company scales.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of personally sourcing and closing senior/leadership engineers (Staff+, EM, Director) via cold outreach.
  • An active, living network of engineering talent that provides immediate access to candidates.
  • Ability to build pipelines in new domains (e.g., moving from consumer product to financial infrastructure).
  • Domain-adaptive judgment to calibrate hiring bars across different technical disciplines.
  • Experience building a hiring function from zero in a startup environment.
  • Technical literacy and fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Presence in the Japanese and English-speaking engineering communities.
  • Experience hiring bilingual JP engineers.
  • Background in Crypto/Web3, fintech, or high-growth startups.
  • Experience sourcing talent from financial institutions or large SIers.
  • Previous experience as an engineer or a strong following in engineering communities.
