Head of Social Communications

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve social communications strategy for Anthropic's brand channels across current and emerging platforms
• Steward Anthropic's voice across platforms and audiences: nuanced, candid, technically credible, and empathetic
• Serve as the bridge between Communications’ and Marketing’s social workstreams
• Plan and execute social communications strategy for major moments, including model launches and research publications
• Lead reactive issue and incident communications on social channels including X
• Build and nurture online communities by monitoring sentiment and engaging with developers and critics
• Identify and engage key voices in the AI ecosystem
• Measure sentiment, share of voice, brand affinity, and community health

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience leading social communications and response strategy for a brand under public scrutiny
• Proven track record of growing audiences and deepening engagement and trust
• Exceptional writing skills with mastery of nuanced brand voice
• Experience operating across communications and marketing organizations
• Experience managing multi-brand or company-plus-product social ecosystems
• Experience leading social channel strategy through crises and high-stakes news cycles
• Ability to build and manage online communities at scale
• Fluency with social analytics and connecting platform data to business outcomes
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in AI, machine learning, or frontier technology companies
• Experience managing social for developer or technical audiences
• Background in journalism, editorial, or creative fields
• Video editing and multimedia production skills
• Experience managing agencies, contractors, or direct reports
• International social media experience
