Head of Scientific Communications

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction, oversight, and governance of scientific communications across the North America regional portfolio
• Lead regional publication strategy, field medical resources, medical education content, and digital scientific communications
• Develop and own the regional scientific communications strategy aligned with global medical strategy
• Oversee regional publication planning including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and oral presentations
• Lead development and lifecycle management of regional scientific narratives and key data-driven messages
• Oversee scientific content for regional medical education, advisory boards, and congress activities
• Provide strategic oversight of regional digital scientific assets and omnichannel-ready content
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of scientific communications professionals
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams

Requirements

• Advanced Scientific or Clinical Degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D.) in life sciences or related discipline
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in Medical Affairs or related pharmaceutical/biotech roles
• At least 6 years of experience specifically in Scientific/Medical Communication
• Senior leadership experience managing scientific communications teams
• Extensive oversight of end-to-end scientific communications activities
• Strong understanding of publication planning standards and medical governance
• Experience operating within global or regional matrix organizations

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in transformation initiatives within Medical Affairs
• Experience with digital and omnichannel engagement models
• Proven history of mentoring managers and senior professionals
