Head of School, Physics

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the School of Physics
• Lead the development and delivery of an internationally competitive research and education program
• Drive strategic direction, financial performance, and operational excellence
• Build and strengthen partnerships with industry, government, and the broader research community
• Champion innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global engagement
• Lead and develop academic and professional staff while fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion
• Ensure strong governance, compliance, and alignment with Faculty and University priorities

Requirements

• PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline with international standing
• Demonstrated academic leadership experience within a complex organization
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic vision and drive organizational performance
• Strong track record of research excellence, including competitive funding and researcher supervision
• Experience leading and managing high-performing, diverse teams
• Capability in financial, operational, and infrastructure management
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to represent the School externally
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and safe working environment
