About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build, implement, and lead General Matter’s integrated Safeguards & Security program, including physical security, personnel security, information security, and OPSEC
  • Serve as the company’s security program lead and site security point of contact for NRC, DOE, law enforcement, and other government stakeholders
  • Support NRC Part 70 licensing and Part 73 physical protection readiness
  • Develop protection strategies for special nuclear material, controlled nuclear information, and proprietary technology
  • Lead classification and information security programs, including document review, marking, and transmission
  • Support nuclear material control and accountability (MC&A) planning and reporting
  • Own Export Control, CUI, and OPSEC programs
  • Manage facility clearance, access authorization, and security education
  • Lead security investigations, incident reporting, and causal analysis
  • Partner with engineering, operations, legal, and IT/cybersecurity to embed security requirements into facility design and operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management, nuclear engineering, criminal justice, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in safeguards and security, nuclear security, or high-consequence regulated environments
  • Experience managing security programs involving physical security, access control, and incident response
  • Working knowledge of DOE and/or NRC security frameworks (e.g., 10 CFR Part 70, 73, 95)
  • Ability to develop regulator-ready documentation, procedures, and training
  • Strong judgment regarding classified, sensitive, and export-controlled information
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to work on-site and support classified or sensitive work areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Security Manager or FSO at a DOE, NNSA, NRC, or DoD site
  • Experience with uranium enrichment or nuclear fuel cycle operations
  • Experience building security programs for new facilities or startups
  • Familiarity with export control and 10 CFR Part 810
  • Excellent writing skills for converting regulatory requirements into practical procedures
