About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the 1A Governance & Control function for the US Residential Lending (RESL) organization by developing and implementing a comprehensive governance strategy.
- Oversee Governance & Control activities through risk assessment and collaboration with Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, AML, and Audit partners.
- Partner with the business to respond to audits and regulatory exams, developing proactive strategies to manage governance issues.
- Maintain a robust culture of risk management and control in alignment with the bank's risk appetite.
- Drive enhancements to the control environment, including process mapping, risk identification, and increasing automation in monitoring.
- Act as the primary business representative for all audits to ensure execution within established standards, budget, and scope.
- Provide leadership and people management, including hiring, goal setting, and professional development for the team.
- Provide strategic insight and guidance to the executive leadership team to support informed decision-making.
Requirements
- 10+ years of related experience in banking or financial services.
- In-depth knowledge of banking and regulatory rules, specifically within Residential Lending.
- Significant experience working directly with regulators and audit partners.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate complex information into concise business analysis.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and manage effectively within a complex matrix organization.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
