Head of Platform Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architecture, reliability, and integration strategy for Cogentiq, an AI-powered multi-tenant underwriting platform.
• Architect multi-tenant, API-first, and event-driven designs, including state machines and audit trails.
• Manage cloud deployments across multiple regions to achieve 99.9%+ SLOs and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
• Own the enterprise integration layer, including connectors for core systems like Guidewire/Duck Creek and third-party data providers.
• Establish high standards for security and compliance, including SOC 2 readiness and GDPR-aligned data privacy.
• Partner with Data Science teams to productionize agentic and LLM features with robust guardrails and explainability.
• Build observability, FinOps, and billing/metering frameworks to monitor platform health and cost optimization.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a high-caliber engineering team while defining CI/CD and IaC standards.
• Act as a technical leader in pre-sales conversations, RFPs, and industry conferences.

Requirements

• 12-15+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading platform or core backend teams for B2B/SaaS products.
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Helm).
• Extensive experience with cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms and multi-region deployments.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise integrations (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, OAuth2/OIDC/SAML).
• Strong knowledge of security and compliance (encryption, secrets management, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Demonstrated experience deploying agentic/LLM or ML-powered features in a production environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with CIO/CTO/CISO stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BPM or workflow engines such as Temporal, Cadence, or Camunda.
• Leadership experience in FinOps, including cost allocation and optimization playbooks.
• Experience designing usage/billing metering and administrative observability portals.
• A history of conference presentations, publications, or community contributions.
