Head of Nursery

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the Nursery provision for children aged 2–4 years
• Oversee the quality of teaching, care, and learning experiences to ensure the highest standards of Early Years practice
• Lead and support a talented team of Nursery Teachers and Early Years Practitioners
• Work closely with the Head of Pre-Prep & Nursery to develop an outstanding Early Years environment
• Combine strategic leadership with hands-on engagement in teaching and learning
• Ensure a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment that encourages independence and curiosity

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent Early Years teaching qualification
• Significant EYFS experience, specifically with children aged 2–4
• Secure and comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS framework
• Proven evidence of leadership or coordination within an Early Years setting
• Strong understanding of early childhood development and assessment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Familiarity with ISI inspection frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within an independent or preparatory school setting
• Experience in developing or expanding Early Years provision
• Experience supporting Early Years colleagues through further professional qualifications
