Head of Mobile Engineering

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing oversight on complex mobile deliveries.
• Define and evolve Valtech's mobile vision, strategy, and engineering capability in the UK.
• Provide technical and architectural direction across iOS, Android, and cross-platform ecosystems.
• Manage and coach engineering leaders, ensuring high standards for performance and career development.
• Partner with growth teams on pitches and pre-sales to bring credible craft perspectives to executive conversations.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and foster communities of practice.
• Champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD, observability, and automation.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading mobile engineering teams, practices, or large-scale capabilities.
• Deep technical expertise in native mobile development (iOS and/or Android).
• Strong knowledge of cross-platform technologies such as Flutter or React Native.
• Extensive experience in mobile architecture, platform strategy, and API-driven ecosystems.
• Background in consulting, agency, or digital transformation environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, security, and cloud-native backend integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-powered mobile experiences and agentic AI.
• Knowledge of modern data and personalization platforms.
• Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.
• Public speaking experience or contributions to the wider technology community through thought leadership.
