Head of Midwifery

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe maternity services, ensuring effective staffing and patient flow
• Lead clinical governance, risk management, and continuous quality improvement processes
• Drive strategic and annual service planning, transformation, and financial sustainability
• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and staff development
• Collaborate with system partners and co-produce services with women and families
• Participate in the senior midwifery on-call rota

Requirements

• Registered Midwife
• Master’s degree or equivalent qualification/experience
• Management qualification or equivalent leadership experience
• Post graduate qualification in a Health-related subject
• Significant post-registration experience
• Experience leading and managing staff and clinical services in a complex environment
• Proven experience in quality improvement and clinical governance
• Experience in maternity contracting and commissioning processes
• Ability to manage budgets and workforce planning

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching qualification
• Published work in a clinical or health care area
• Mentoring or Coaching qualification
• Experience in service improvement or transformational change
