Responsibilities
- Serve as the final technical decision-maker for all mechanical designs and approve engineering drawings and analyses.
- Maintain system-level knowledge of actuator products including kinematic architecture, load paths, and thermal management.
- Lead formal design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) and ensure compliance with aerospace/defense requirements.
- Lead development of precision electromechanical actuators integrating motors, geartrains, and braking systems.
- Own mechanical compliance to standards including DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and AS9100.
- Architect qualification and acceptance test programs and ensure traceability from requirements to test evidence.
- Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing mechanical engineering team.
- Lead DFM/DFA efforts to transition designs from prototype to production-ready.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with 3+ years in technical leadership.
- Deep background in electromechanical actuator or precision mechanism development.
- Proven hands-on design experience with motor integration, geartrains, and position sensing.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards.
- Proficiency in structural analysis, including strength, fatigue, stiffness, and FEA.
- Expert-level use of SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or equivalent 3D CAD platforms.
- Advanced command of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in flight hardware programs (UAV, launch vehicle, spacecraft, or crewed systems).
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.
- Background in motor-drive integration and thermal-mechanical co-design.
- Experience qualifying hardware to MIL-PRF-27369.
- Prior experience at a small or scaling aerospace company.
