Head of Law & Compliance

Responsibilities

• Total responsibility for Law & Compliance, including leading a team of approximately 8 people
• Strategic and operational management of all legal and compliance matters for the insurance company and subsidiaries
• Monitoring and implementation of legal and regulatory developments (national & EU, including DORA and AI Act)
• Advising the Board and specialist departments on strategic projects, product developments, and cooperations
• Development of guidelines, standards, and control systems for Law, Compliance, Data Protection, AML/CFT, and Fraud
• Acting as an interface to supervisory authorities and audit bodies
• Ensuring compliance governance according to VAG 2016, including the Compliance Management System
• Managing fraud, whistleblowing, and data protection systems

Requirements

• Completed degree in Law, ideally with additional qualifications in insurance, banking, or business law
• Extensive leadership experience
• 5–7+ years of relevant professional experience in an insurance or financial institution
• Deep expertise in insurance supervisory law (VAG 2016, Solvency II, FMA circulars) and Digital Law
• Comprehensive experience in Compliance, AML/CFT, Data Protection (GDPR), and governance systems
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• High affinity for AI and digitalization
• Very good German and good English skills
