Responsibilities

• Own the experimental design and wet-lab delivery for generating datasets for foundation models
• Lead, line-manage, and develop a small team of laboratory scientists and automation specialists
• Design, execute, document, and analyse experiments on automated platforms
• Define and run end-to-end data generation campaigns including scoping, scheduling, and QC
• Develop, optimise, and validate scientific workflows on automation (cell culture, protein engineering, etc.)
• Oversee maintenance and troubleshoot automation platforms like liquid handlers and thermocyclers
• Collaborate with modelling teams to ensure data meets downstream training requirements
• Use scientific computing and programming to support and orchestrate automated workflows

Requirements

• PhD in an experimental field (wet-lab focused)
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology workflows (cell culturing, protein engineering, protein purification)
• Experience with automated laboratory equipment and liquid handlers (OpenTrons preferred)
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot novel scientific protocols
• Willingness to perform hands-on wet-lab work personally in a lean team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience running experimental data generation campaigns at scale
• Familiarity with modelling and data setup for data campaigns
