Head of Engineering – Supply Tech

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend applications and define a "North Star" for scalable, high-performance architecture.
• Lead the team through complex technical challenges, including the rewriting of in-house middleware.
• Partner with the Product Lead to balance business-critical features with technical goals like reducing technical debt.
• Mentor and coach backend engineers to simplify system complexity and advance their careers.
• Lead the hiring and onboarding of engineering talent capable of managing legacy-to-modern system transitions.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for the unit regarding backend architecture, API schemas, and integration contracts.
• Research and propose modern technologies in areas such as message queuing, data normalization, and observability.

Requirements

• Proven track record of successfully executing "Strangler Fig" migrations or similar architectural shifts from legacy to modern systems.
• Deep experience with high-volume data pipelines, data normalization, and message queues (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ).
• Strong advocate for industry standards with experience replacing over-engineered custom frameworks with maintainable patterns.
• Ability to manage complex project timelines and backlogs in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.
• Expert mindset regarding logging, tracing, and monitoring to improve system transparency and troubleshooting speed.
• Passion for people development, mentoring, and fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
