Responsibilities

• Translate company goals into a clear, ambitious engineering strategy
• Make build-vs-buy and architectural decisions that balance speed with long-term leverage
• Recruit, onboard, and mentor a diverse team of 5 to 20+ engineers across full-stack, product, and infra disciplines
• Guide the evolution of the React, TypeScript, Rust, and Ruby stack
• Oversee usage of foundation models for coding and vision-language agents
• Own scalability, security, and compliance for Fortune-500 data workloads
• Establish effective processes for planning, code health, on-call, and incident response

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 3+ years managing and leading multi-team organizations in high-growth startups
• Proven record scaling products from 0 to 1 to N, ideally in data-heavy domains
• Strong technical background in data-heavy applications and distributed systems
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco 5x per week
• Track record of building inclusive, high-performance cultures

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience shipping AI/LLM-powered products or internal agents at scale
• Experience building customer-facing SDKs, APIs, or developer platforms
• Experience working with large enterprise security and compliance requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.)
• Fluency in data-integration, ETL, or document-understanding problems
