Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale multiple engineering teams responsible for building globally critical retail and commercial platforms from China.
• Shape technical direction, platform roadmap, and execution focus in partnership with Product, Architecture, and Security.
• Participate in architectural design, review complex trade-offs, and guide critical technical decisions.
• Own the delivery, quality, and technical excellence of globally deployed platforms.
• Build and nurture a high-performing engineering culture rooted in technical rigor and ownership.
• Coach and mentor Engineering Managers and senior engineers to develop leadership pipelines.
• Drive alignment across global engineering, product, and business teams.
• Connect engineering investments directly to scalability, speed, and business outcomes.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams (ICs and Engineering Managers) in global-scale organizations.
• Strong technical foundation in designing large-scale e-commerce platforms (customer-facing, transactional, and backend).
• Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering Point of Sale (POS) platforms and omnichannel solutions.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, platform architecture, and integration patterns.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to translate technical complexity for senior leadership.
• Track record of delivering high-impact platforms with predictability and quality.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and align distributed, cross-regional teams.
