Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands-on engineering leader, dedicating ~70% of time to IC-level contributions including coding, reviewing, and debugging
• Architect and maintain scalable, reliable backend infrastructure for real-time AI-powered communications
• Unlock engineering velocity by improving developer tooling, streamlining CI/CD, and removing blockers
• Lead and mentor a growing team of engineers, fostering technical excellence and high ownership
• Drive the technical roadmap in partnership with the founding team
• Design and implement core infrastructure for AI-native applications, including multi-agent workflows and model routing
• Champion AI-first engineering practices and LLMOps patterns

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with deep architectural ownership
• Proven track record of building and scaling backend systems in SaaS, messaging, or e-commerce
• Proficiency in TypeScript (NestJS) and AWS-based infrastructure
• AI-first mindset with interest in LLMOps and AI application infrastructure
• Experience leading or mentoring small, high-performing engineering teams
• Strong engineering taste with a focus on avoiding unnecessary complexity

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React, Terraform, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse
• Excitement about using AI coding tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude Code
