Head of Design

Responsibilities

• Uphold and elevate Ello’s creative direction and principles across product and marketing
• Maintain a high-quality visual bar for illustration, animation, and interface design
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing leadership to shape product direction and go-to-market strategy
• Own creative timelines, milestone planning, and the art and asset production pipeline
• Build and strengthen Ello’s design culture through mentoring and cross-functional training
• Manage contract teammates and vendors, including drafting briefs and overseeing delivery

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in creative production, preferably in mobile apps, games, or interactive experiences
• Proven expertise in visual storytelling with a strong portfolio in illustration, animation, and UI
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams through multiple product cycles from concept to delivery
• Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Linear, and Notion
• Strong project management skills and experience coordinating cross-functional teams
• Ability to work onsite in San Francisco

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing specifically for kids, families, edtech, or mobile gaming
• Prior success in building and scaling creative pipelines
• Genuine curiosity and engagement with AI-enabled design tools
