Head of Department, Handbags & Fashion

Responsibilities

• Manage the Handbags and Fashion department in America, including people management, recruitment, and budget control
• Drive new business generation through the solicitation, authentication, and sale of luxury property
• Identify and develop private clients in the USA to increase auction and private sale revenue
• Manage department P&L and ensure delivery of annual financial plans and forecasts
• Provide direct line management, mentoring, and training for Specialists and Cataloguers
• Cultivate long-term client relationships through personalized service and auction support
• Collaborate with international colleagues and luxury teams to drive global sales

Requirements

• Degree educated or equivalent
• Proven expertise in authentication for handbags and fashion
• Extensive experience in business development and luxury market expertise
• In-depth market knowledge, including archives, reference sources, and a strong network of contacts
• Functional knowledge of the complete auction process, including shipping, taxation, and compliance
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality and discretion
• Flexibility to travel for sales, exhibitions, and client visits
