Head of Data

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end data strategy, including the creation of a documented roadmap and target operating model.
• Build and mentor a high-performing data team across engineering, analytics, and governance.
• Own the data platform direction, making pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions across the modern data stack (e.g., ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt).
• Ensure data reliability through robust pipelines, observability, and strict SLAs.
• Establish a single source of truth and a governed semantic layer to eliminate conflicting metrics.
• Drive data governance and privacy compliance in accordance with PDPL, GDPR, and NCA requirements.
• Partner with commercial and product teams to develop and launch monetizable data products and client-facing insights.
• Implement FinOps discipline to manage platform budgets and ensure cost predictability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data, with 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Head of Data or Director).
• Proven experience leading high-performing teams in a technology, SaaS, or consumer-platform environment.
• Deep technical expertise in the modern data stack, including warehouses/lakehouses, transformation, orchestration, and BI.
• Strong command of data engineering, dimensional modeling, and data quality practices.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical data initiatives into commercial business value.
• Working knowledge of data governance and privacy regulations (PDPL/GDPR).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building and monetizing external data products.
• Familiarity with KSA and EU regulatory contexts (PDPL, GDPR, NCA ECC).
• Experience making data "AI-ready" for machine learning at scale.
• Background in events, ticketing, e-commerce, or marketplace industries.
• Cloud or platform certifications (GCP, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks).
