Head of Data

Responsibilities

• Own all things data at Philo, ensuring stakeholders have access to timely and accurate data-driven insights
• Oversee core data science work in cross-functional teams, including product experiments, A/B tests, and growth modeling
• Own the quality and performance of the data platform, including architecture, instrumentation, governance, and security
• Collaborate with engineering and AI/ML teams to support content recommendation systems
• Partner with business and finance teams to build deep understanding of business, customers, and content trends
• Manage, mentor, and coach the data team, directing their work and supporting career growth

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in analytics, data science, data engineering, or related functions
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary data teams through ambiguity
• Hands-on expertise in data architecture and statistical modeling in Python or R (Python preferred)
• Proficiency in SQL and A/B/n experimentation practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex findings to broad audiences
• Ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer subscription, streaming, media, or ad-supported digital businesses
• Experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning
• Startup experience
