Head of Credit Underwriting

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a company-wide risk management framework tailored to construction finance
• Own and evolve portfolio risk strategy across underwriting, monitoring, and loss mitigation
• Monitor risk exposures including project performance, payment waterfall, and lien risk
• Lead comprehensive risk assessments for construction clients and counterparties
• Establish portfolio-level monitoring capabilities and early warning indicators
• Partner with Credit, Sales, Legal, Product, and Engineering to embed risk into product design
• Analyze and report on risk trends, concentrations, and stress scenarios

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in alternative credit roles
• Proven track record in Asset-Based Lending (ABL), Invoice Factoring, or Receivable Financing
• Strong understanding of risk modeling, portfolio analytics, and stress testing
• Experience in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field
• Deep understanding of construction finance risk drivers
