Head of Communications, Business

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy for OpenAI’s B2B business, shaping how value is communicated to customers, partners, and the broader market.
• Own the press narrative and media engagement, maintaining strong relationships with top-tier business, technology, and trade press.
• Translate complex product and platform capabilities into clear, credible enterprise narratives for technical buyers and executives.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, including the CMO and CRO, on positioning and industry conversations.
• Partner closely with Marketing and GTM teams to deliver unified, coordinated marcomms strategies across earned, owned, and social channels.
• Build and scale the communications function, including hiring and structuring support for social, content, and programmatic communications.

Requirements

• 15+ years of communications experience, with deep expertise in enterprise/B2B communications within high-growth technology environments.
• Proven track record of shaping narratives and landing impactful coverage with major business and industry media.
• Experience engaging enterprise stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, and developers.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor to senior executives in high-velocity, high-scrutiny environments.
• Experience working in highly cross-functional, matrixed organizations.
• Strong ability to build and scale teams and complementary capabilities like social and content.
