Head of Biology

Responsibilities

• Own the feedback loop between biological models and the lab
• Translate biological requirements into priorities for data and modeling
• Manage CRO partners for peptide and molecular synthesis, biological assays, and experimental testing
• Design experiments to generate maximally informative data for active learning cycles
• Collaborate with engineering to design biology-specific agent skills and workflows
• Work with model and data teams to ensure experimental findings shape model learning
• Stay current with biological literature to identify new opportunities for model development

Requirements

• PhD in computational biology, biophysics, structural biology, molecular biology, or a related field
• 3+ years of post-doctoral or industry research experience
• Deep understanding of protein biology, protein-ligand interactions, and sequence-structure-function relationships
• Experience designing biological experiments and managing CROs
• Experience with protein language models or machine learning applied to biological sequences/structures
• Strong programming skills in Python for building computational pipelines and analysis tools
• Ability to bridge the gap between biological science and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Structural biology expertise including protein structure analysis
• Experience with active learning or iterative experimental design in drug discovery
• Hands-on wet lab experience
• Experience across multiple therapeutic modalities, including peptides
• Experience building tools or code that automates biological analysis workflows
