Head of Accounting, Tax & Customs Excellence

Responsibilities

• Lead the continuous improvement and transformation of accounting, tax, and customs processes to drive compliance, efficiency, and error reduction
• Bridge regulations, processes, and systems to ensure a consistent way of working across the group
• Manage data and process governance, including the development and implementation of a KPI framework for data quality, automation, and system stability
• Build and operate an integrated analytics capability covering accounting, tax technology, and customs topics
• Serve as the Tax Compliance Management Officer to protect the Executive Board and Senior Management
• Develop, implement, and monitor a groupwide Tax Compliance Management System (TCMS)
• Represent the Lufthansa Group in political committees and engage with tax administrations regarding regulatory topics
• Oversee the Internal Control System (ICS) within Accounting, Tax, and Customs in collaboration with functional teams

Requirements

• University degree in Economics or Law with a core focus on accounting and tax
• Certified Tax Advisor, Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in tax or accounting, including at least 10 years in international corporate environments
• Deep knowledge of economic tax doctrine, accounting regulations, and legal methodology
• Strong understanding of tax, administrative, company, and international commercial law
• Proven experience handling financial auditors and managing complex projects
• Strong project management skills with a focus on decision-making and implementation
• Fluent in both German and English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale transformation projects
• Expertise in tax or accounting technology
• Leadership experience within multinational organizations utilizing shared service models
