Head Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Safeguard swimming pool patrons and ensure the proper use of all pool facilities
• Maintain a constant watch for accidents or potential hazards at the pool
• Enforce all rules governing the conduct of persons at the swimming pool
• Assign daily tasks to the lifeguard staff and maintain lifeguard schedules
• Assume pool responsibility and managerial tasks in the absence of the Recreation Program Supervisor
• Assist persons in distress using safety techniques, resuscitation, and First Aid administration
• Perform maintenance work on or around the swimming pool as required
• Utilize superior customer service skills when interacting with patrons

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license or equivalent mobility required
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain them by employment date)
• Ability to pass satisfactory criminal, sex offender, and driving record background checks
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Alien eligible for hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor
