About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the establishment of the newly created Department of Health and Society, shaping its strategic direction, governance, and academic identity.
- Provide senior academic leadership to foster interdisciplinary scholarship across health, society, behaviour, and equity.
- Drive innovative teaching programs and integrate research with graduate research supervision.
- Strengthen partnerships with communities, health services, government, and research organisations to ensure research is grounded in lived experience.
- Contribute to School, Faculty, and University-wide decision-making as a member of the School Executive.
- Foster an inclusive, high-performing, and accountable departmental culture.
Requirements
- Appointment as a Professor or Associate Professor.
- An internationally recognised research record in social and behavioural science, health equity, lived experience research, or a related discipline.
- Substantial leadership experience within complex academic, research, health, or community environments.
- A proven track record of success in securing competitive research funding.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive partnerships across diverse sectors.
- Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check.
