Responsibilities

• Serve as the inaugural Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, shaping its strategic direction, academic identity, and culture.
• Provide senior academic leadership to advance methodological innovation and quantitative excellence across the University and health sector.
• Drive innovative teaching programs and foster strong integration between research, teaching, and graduate research supervision.
• Build strategic partnerships with health services, research institutes, government agencies, and international collaborators to enhance research impact.
• Contribute to School and Faculty-wide decision-making as a member of the School Executive.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing, and accountable departmental environment.

Requirements

• Professor or Associate Professor rank.
• Internationally recognised research record in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative health discipline.
• Substantial academic leadership experience within complex research or health environments.
• Proven success in securing competitive research funding.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people through change and build productive interdisciplinary partnerships.
• Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check.
