About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for all facets of the men’s and women’s Division I fencing programs.
- Recruit, train, and oversee student-athletes to ensure a successful competitive team.
- Monitor and support the academic success and health and safety of student-athletes.
- Promote a standard of excellence in compliance, community service, diversity, and inclusion.
- Build and maintain public awareness of the fencing program.
- Ensure strict adherence to NCAA and conference rules and legislation.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or state-recognized equivalent.
- One year of experience coaching fencing at the high school, collegiate, or equivalent level.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under university policy.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sports management or a related field.
- Three years of head coaching experience in collegiate fencing.
- Professional experience in an urban higher education environment.
- Familiarity with the Northeast Ohio region.
