Head Coach, Competitive Cheer

Responsibilities

• Coach, manage, and direct all aspects of the Gannon University Competitive Cheer & Dance program
• Recruit high-quality academic student-athletes
• Teach advanced stunting, baskets, tumbling, and pyramids safely and with proper technique
• Schedule all competitive events, practices, and necessary facilities
• Manage the program budget, including expense reports and travel coordination for away contests
• Oversee the purchase and maintenance of team uniforms and equipment
• Monitor and support student-athletes in their academic pursuits and campus living
• Identify, hire, and supervise staff, volunteers, and student assistants
• Develop and implement camps, clinics, and alumni engagement initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Technical knowledge of stunting, tumbling, and pyramids
• Working knowledge of USA Cheer safety rules and their underlying philosophy
• Valid driver's license with a good driving history
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively teach sport-specific skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Collegiate-level cheer or dance experience, preferably with NCA & NDA National Championship experience
• Team coaching experience at the high school level or higher
• Expertise in both cheer and dance disciplines
• Experience coaching programs that utilize a collaborative approach
