Head Cheer Coach & Athletic Success Coach

Responsibilities

• Lead the recruitment, retention, and development of the LIU Cheerleading teams at the Post and Brooklyn campuses.
• Manage all aspects of the cheer program, including practices, competitions, travel, equipment, and budgeting.
• Oversee the Finley Mascot Team and coordinate with the Head Dance Coach and Marching Band Director for Division I game-day experiences.
• Develop and execute youth summer cheer camps to build a recruitment pipeline and generate revenue.
• Manage a caseload of student-athletes, providing holistic academic, personal, and career coaching to support retention and graduation.
• Monitor academic progress and NCAA eligibility through proactive outreach and individualized intervention plans.
• Support career readiness by assisting students with resume development, internship preparation, and career exploration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1-3 years of progressive professional coaching experience, preferably in a collegiate setting.
• Experience as a member of a collegiate cheer team or experience coaching a cheer team.
• Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel between campuses.
