HAZMAT Technician

Responsibilities

• Respond at a moment's notice to HAZMAT emergency responses involving rail, road, marine, and fixed facilities
• Perform chemical transloading between various containment methods, including tankcars and tank trucks
• Execute chemical neutralization and decontamination procedures as required
• Organize and maintain emergency response resources, including personnel, equipment, and documentation
• Ensure all emergency response equipment is serviced, decontaminated, and operationally ready
• Participate in wildland fire operations and structure protection
• Lead safety initiatives by following company procedures and completing all required safety documentation
• Participate in live training events and specialized scheduled projects

Requirements

• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
• Physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection
• Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper respiratory protection seal
• Ability to work on-call, travel, and work out of town as needed
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in handling or transporting hazardous materials or emergency response
• Prior training in HAZMAT Technician, Tank Car/Truck Specialist, ICS, or Confined Space Entry
