About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for cradle-to-grave hazardous waste management operations, including characterization, storage, and disposal
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including RCRA requirements for LQG facilities
  • Oversee waste activities such as sampling, analysis, packaging, labeling, manifesting, and onsite transportation
  • Manage satellite and central accumulation areas to ensure compliance with storage time limits
  • Conduct inspections of waste accumulation areas and develop corrective action plans for any identified deficiencies
  • Prepare and maintain required documentation, including annual/biennial reports, waste profiles, and manifests
  • Develop and deliver RCRA hazardous waste management training programs for site personnel
  • Support spill response planning, execution, and emergency response procedures
  • Interface with the NASA Environmental Management Office, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Earth Science, or Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant hazardous waste management experience
  • United States citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience supporting Large Quantity Generator (LQG) operations
  • Strong knowledge of RCRA regulations (40 CFR 260–279)
  • Experience working with federal facilities or highly regulated environments such as DOE, NASA, or DOD
  • HAZWOPER certification and RCRA training credentials
  • Experience managing hazardous waste programs across large, complex facilities
