Harness Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design wiring harnesses for Electric Vehicle, Battery and Charger applications
• Perform cable selection based on current rating, voltage class, temperature, flexibility, and environmental conditions
• Select appropriate crimp terminals, lugs, and connectors based on electrical, mechanical, and reliability requirements
• Create 2D harness drawings, schematics, and BOMs
• Define crimping specifications, wire routing, protection, and sealing strategies
• Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility
• Validate designs through DFMEA, testing, and field feedback
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards and safety requirements
• Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

Requirements

• Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals
• Hands-on knowledge of cable types (PVC, XLPE, XLPO, shielded, high-voltage)
• Experience in crimp terminal selection and crimping processes
• Understanding of connector systems, sealing classes, and IP ratings
• Ability to think from first principles
• Familiarity with wiring harness design tools such as Rapid Harness or Solidworks
• Experience with automotive or EV systems preferred
