Hardware Test & Prototype Technician

Responsibilities

• Assemble, integrate, rework, and maintain Dropbox prototypes and test articles
• Build mechanical and electromechanical assemblies including motors, sensors, and PCBAs
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD views, and wiring diagrams
• Fabricate and modify prototype components and test fixtures using shop tools
• Instrument test articles using load cells, thermocouples, and data-acquisition equipment
• Execute component and system-level tests following safety requirements
• Document test configurations, failures, and observations accurately
• Support installation and maintenance of prototype systems at remote test locations
• Maintain test assets, tools, and equipment calibration

Requirements

• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, or maintaining electromechanical hardware
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, and wiring diagrams
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and data-acquisition tools
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and methodical problem-solving approach
• Ability to work in person in South San Francisco with travel to test sites
• Physical ability to handle tools and participate in team lifts

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate, associate degree, or military technical experience
• Experience with robotics, industrial automation, or aerospace hardware
• Skills in basic machining, sheet-metal fabrication, or soldering
• Experience with environmental testing or harness fabrication
