About the role
Responsibilities
- Support hardware and software research development projects for electro-optical systems
- Develop specifications for firmware and software architectures within a team environment
- Design, validate, and maintain software code and hardware components
- Design and implement precision motion control systems for pointing and tracking
- Develop custom GUIs on networked systems to provide control and telemetry
- Troubleshoot and debug complex electromechanical systems and software issues
- Interface custom and COTS hardware with various computer platforms
- Assist with test procedures and document results to ensure system requirements are met
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
- 3+ years of experience integrating and communicating with hardware
- 1+ years of experience working with Windows and FPGA development tools
- 1+ years of experience programming in C, C++, Java, or LabVIEW
- 1+ years of experience with performance analysis using MATLAB or Mathematica
- Ability to work variable shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- 9+ years of related work experience
- Active U.S. Top Secret clearance
- Experience developing code for Microcontrollers, Single Board Computers (PC104), or Systems On a Chip (SOC)
- Experience with National Instruments PCIe, PXIe, and Data Acquisition Hardware
- Experience with standard communication protocols such as GPIO, QSPI, UART, RS-422, RS-485, and Ethernet
- Experience working with telescopes and electro-optics systems
- Experience with OS driver development and lightweight Linux distributions
